AOL Buys SocialThing

By brilliantjeni • Aug 1st, 2008 • Category: Blogosphere News, Social Media

Reports are coming in that AOL has purchased SocialThing, a competing aggregator to FriendFeed and similiar to AOL’s recently launched BuddyUpdates.

Personally, I give SocialThing a thumbs up and I’m eager to see what comes of it- especially now that AOL has taken hold. SocialThing is also in the process of integrating MySpace and various other social networks but doesn’t seem to have my beloved Plurk on the waiting list; something I hope is not too far around the corner.

I’m also curious to find out what SocialThing’s price tag was!

Note: Matt Galligan, Founder and CEO of SocialThing has not confirmed the deal, stating that company policy does not allow comments on rumors.

  1. I love Social Thing also, but it does has some limited plurk support. when it finally gets the ability to follow entire Plurk conversations and all of your time line, *then* it will really support Plurk instead of half-assing it now.

  2. Hey Alexander- I love when fellow plurkers stop by! Agreed; the sooner they can offer more plurk love, the better.

  3. Social thing is the best! I love it….very easy to navigate and fun to use. Whoever has it, I hope the use the full potential of it!
