Google vs. Microsoft Senate Hearing - July 15, 2008

by User ImageBrilliantJeni (Who am I?) on July 15, 2008

For those of you who missed the senate hearing on CNN, it was posted on YouTube just a few hours ago.Just a brief clip of the hearing regarding the Google-Yahoo ad deal and Microsoft’s adamant dispute, which surprisingly echoes the earlier published concerns of David Drummond, Senior Vice President at Google: Google Blog: David Drummond

As most of you all know, there is a lot more at risk here than a few billion dollars and an increase in ad prices. Huge in itself, but I get the chills when I think of internet (hmmm, what’s a tactful word for ignorant? inexperienced? blind? underexposed?) unacquainted politicians determining laws and regulation over an industry they know little about.

Paul Sweeting points out Microsoft’s positioning in light of their arguments: Paul Sweeting.

Microsoft’s new-found enthusiasm for anti-trust law would be more believable, for instance, if it didn’t have such an obvious interest in trying to knock down the price of Yahoo shares to make its own bid for the company look more attractive.

Well put, Paul.
